Last weekend I ran a pretty intense 5k trail race with a good friend/client. I ran this race last year and remembered how insanely hilly it was….ok more like the first half is completely up the mountain in switch backs! My client and I are training for a Spartan race in April so we figured why not…we could handle it!! It was an absolutely gorgeous morning but was freezing. The trees all looked so beautiful!
After trying to warm up we decided to go check out the start line, which is the most important part of a race…especially when it’s the finish line also
The course was a nice out and back. The nice part was the last half where you get to fly down the mountain and feel like one of the characters in Twilight (yes I watch those movies…no I am not ashamed ) So I am definitely not a fast runner. I am getting faster but my client is totally faster than me. Yes I am a personal trainer and yes my client totally whopped me in this race But that’s ok cause I am happy to say that I assisted her in being able to do as well as she did.
She finished a couple minutes before me and after I was done we went to check out the results board. I was not surprised at all to see that she had placed 1st in her age group!! I was soooo proud! We even took a picture to document the moment
These are the moments that make me so proud to be a personal trainer. It’s accomplishments like this where I know that I am in the right profession and can’t wait to be a full time trainer!! Here we are after the race
And of course her age group picture (yes I made her take it! lol)
And the age group medal is awesome!! I can just hear “Your number one” when I look at it
Congrats Diane!! I can’t wait for our next race and for Spartan in April.
I placed 4th in my age group and cut 3 minutes off my time from last year so I was very pleased. What is your proudest race accomplishment??
